Every year a high number of crutches is disposed of in Germany, as the health system intends them for single use only. Meanwhile, many people in the global South suffer from a lack of medical supplies. Especially in war countries, the quality of life of many wounded people could be significantly improved through functioning prosthesis, wheelchairs, and crutches.

The plant Ecocentral Granada was a renovation and an expansion of the old sorting and composting plant Loma de Manzanares. It is a hybrid plant, as it is able to process, with the same equipment and on different shifts, the organic fraction and the packaging waste. The plant was designed to achieve a capacity of 450.000 tons organic waste per year. In 2015 this plant processed 356.000 tons of organic waste and 8.100 tons of packaging waste.

With the introduction of the GORE® Cover technology in 2014, the composting plant could be standardized to such an extent that in 2019 the AWG received the quality seal for organic compost. Due to the high level of satisfaction with the technology, a second plant has already been put into operation in the district.

The waste management companies of the city of Augsburg, the district of Augsburg and the district of Aichach-Friedberg, Germany, are active around the clock for the approx. 1.2 million inhabitants in their disposal area. With the initial operation of a biowaste fermentation plant in 2013 and 2016, AVA has become one of Germany's largest players also in the field of material recycling. The plant in Salaj, Romania uses the GORE® Cover Process Technology in order to compost the organic fraction from MSW whilst reducing odors and emissions. 6 GORE® Cover system units have been installed in 2015.
