Air quality and road planning

The Air Quality Framework Directive from 1996 and its daughter directive from 1999 make great demands when it comes to road planning.

According to the amendments to the daughter directive from 1999 low limit values will have to be maintained when dealing with airborne pollutants. The following essay informs us of the regulations which will have to be respected in the future and addresses the issue of whether the new directives and the amendments to the German Federal law regarding the protection from emissions (BImSchV) from 2002 will affect existing plans and decisions concerning project approvals.
