Progress in Geochemical Hazardous Waste Detection

Experience shows that approximately 5.000 square meters of land surface can be examined per day and results can be made available within a few days. TSEEP provides information on the presence or absence of pollutants as well as an exact picture of their areal distribution and thus represents an ideal tool to focus or even avoid costly and time-consuming drilling, sampling, and chemical analysis. Because of its rapidity, TSEEP is also an ideal monitoring tool, for instance to observe the underground movement of liquids (e.g. petroleum products) or to assess the efficiency of remedial projects. The technology was initially developed and used for oil & gas exploration for mapping source rocks on large geographic scale. It was then observed that underground pollution and also agriculture (manure) strongly influenced the measurements and that TSEEP could also be used to answer questions related to environment.
