The project was funded by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the project cost is around 300M Euro. The WtE plant, which is expected to be operable in 2021, will be the biggest in Turkey when it is being operated. The plant will have a capacity of 3000 tons per day (15% of Municipal Solid Waste of Istanbul) and almost 1 million tons per year which corresponds to 77 MW power capacity. This corresponds to electricity production for 1.4 million of Istanbul residences and the reduction of 1.4 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year.
