ECJ convicts Slovakia for mismanaged landfills
On 12 September, the European Court of Justice ruled that Slovakia had failed to comply with its obligations under Directive 1999/31/EC regarding landfill waste.

According to the ruling, Slovakia did not submit necessary site management and corrective plans for 11 landfills and did not ensure the timely closure of 10 others, violating Article 14(a) and (b) of the Directive.
