WtERT Germany

In the week of the last turn of the month, I had the opportunity to participate in a delegation trip to the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) organized by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs. The meetings with various local representatives responsible for planning and legislation in the energy sector provided a small insight into how intensively the Sultanate of Oman and the Emirates of Dubai and Abu Dhabi are shaping the future of energy security and economic relations. Hydrogen and carbon capture and storage (CCS) were omnipresent topics. They also dominated events at Sustainablility Week Oman.

The meeting with Tadweer, the Center of Waste Management - Abu Dhabi, which is responsible for the management of waste and environmental services in the emirate, also demonstrated the interest in mutual exchange in the field of circular economy.

Due to weather conditions, the meeting with Bee'ah in the Emirate of Sharjah had to take place online. The meetings with representatives from Bee'ah Energy, Bee'ah Recycling and Bee'ah Tandeef took place virtually. We were shown a video of the flagship project of the waste-to-energy plant in Sharjah. The fascination that the building designed by Zaha Hadid Architectures evokes is only slightly inferior to the world's tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa; marvel for yourself.

Representatives from both emirates will be at IFAT 2024 in Munich.

The exchange with our WtERT representative Mohamed Abdallah on site was personally important to me.
